Sisters Emily, Jessica and Camilla are a 3 piece band from Watford. They released their first full-length album Dead & Born & Grown, produced by Glyn and Ethan Johns, in 2012. Their second album, If I Was, released in 2015, was produced by Justin Vernon from Bon Iver. After a return to the UK and Ireland for a short tour in June 2017, the band will head back into the studio to start work on their third studio album. This year The Staves released a double A Side to coincide with their US tour. We gave them the Lomo'instant Wide to document their travels and they absolutely went to town with it!
Hello The Staves! How did you get on shooting with the Lomo’Instant Wide?
The camera is great! It's so much more reliable than any other instant camera we've tried. Being able to layer double and triple exposures was a great feature that we loved playing around with.
What did you choose to shoot?
We actually ended up taking about 400 photos on the Lomo'Instant Wide!. We asked our wonderful photographer & friend, Graham Tolbert, to take pictures of us in every city. We would then sign these and put them at the Merch table and people could have them in exchange for a donation to Refuge Point, the charity we were collecting for on this tour. Some of our favourite photos were taken on the bus when everyone was celebrating after a good show, usually eating pizza and dancing around to Mariah Carey.
What’s coming up in the future?
We are looking forward to going back to the UK for a tour in May & June. It's been a while since we played at home, so we are all excited about it. We're playing some cool festivals here in the states this summer, too. And we are writing new music whenever we can. Busy, busy!
