Tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Amrit Singh (MrASingh), I’m an award-winning creative designer, artist and international broadcaster from the UK. I’ve been in the design industry for the last 10 years and have worked with many blue-chip companies around the world. I’m also one of the top creative broadcasters on Twitter’s live streaming platform, Periscope and known for live streaming my art and travels. As an artist, I create intricate ink art under my InkANIMA brand and have exhibited my artwork in San Francisco and Birmingham. I’ve published my own colouring book and spoken on various stages around the U.K, Europe and America.
How did you get on shooting with the camera/film?
I loved using the Lomo’Instant Wide! While studying graphic design at university, I also studied traditional photography and dark room techniques, so I really enjoyed shooting with a camera that develops before your eyes. The idea of having an instant photograph is exciting, especially when you don’t quite know what you’re going to get. Also, knowing the photograph might be a little blurry, de-saturated or have a light leak is part of the fun and makes the instant photo unique.
What did you choose to shoot?
I wanted to see how I could incorporate using the Lomo’Instant Wide camera with my vibrant artwork and observe how they interact. Photography is very similar to creating art, because it’s the creative expression of the unconscious mind, that’s how I create my intricate ink art. Through the process of ‘letting go’ of the outcome and flowing with it, we produce the most creative and inspiring works. The best photographs are taken when you don’t focus on the camera, settings or outcome but enjoy the moment and process.
What’s coming up in 2016?
2016 is a very exciting year already. I left my full-time job in February do go freelance and focus on taking my creative design and art to the next level. I’m producing more art, collaborating with amazing companies and sharing my creative and social media knowledge through various speaking engagements. I’m really looking forward to continuing to grow my InkANIMA art brand, use more mixed media techniques and work bigger!
Thanks for taking part Amrit!
