How to Teach Yourself the Art of Filmmaking


The year is fresh enough to take a new endeavor -- that's what new year resolutions are all about anyway! While most of us here have already gotten our ABC's in photography in check. perhaps it is now time to try out a more complex but very familiar medium: filmmaking and cinema.

Just like photography, filmmaking uses the same principles we've once learned in art and composition. The difference, obviously, is that the latter is all about capturing movement. Now not all of us can afford to take special classes or attend film schools just for a new endeavor. Like most of us here, we can teach ourselves filmmaking the same way we taught ourselves photography: to practice, practice, practice.
