Behind the successes of the 20th and 21st century music icons was Capitol Records. Its doors remains one of Hollywood’s most iconic landmarks and home to the most revered music labels for the past 75 years.
To celebrate this milestone, the photo book 75 Years of Capitol Records, offers the label’s distinct history as it rose the careers of Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra for the first 20 years, followed by The Beatles and the Beach Boys in the 60’s, Pink Floyd and Paul McCartney’s Wings in the 70’s, Beastie Boys, Radiohead and Duran Duran in the 80’s and the 90’s, finally Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sam Smith to the contemporary music pop scene.
To see this giant in the music industry and its contribution to pop music and music overall, music journalist Barney Hoskyns treats us with the words, accompanied by a selection of iconic photographs by photography editor Reuel Golden.
