Name: Tamara Lichtenstein
Location: Houston, Texas
Aside from photography, what are your other interests?
Cooking, dancing, singing, drawing, learning, & hanging out with cats.
What does photography mean to you?
It’s the best way to express myself, so it means everything to me. Thanks to photography, I have photos from every event in my life that has meant the most to me.
How did you get started in photography?
I always carried a disposable camera with me when I was in Elementary school. I wanted to capture everything that happened in my life, and it grew into what it is today.
While taste is subjective – in your opinion, what makes a good photo?
I think any photo that makes you feel something is a good photo.
What is your fondest photographic memory?
I love taking photo trips with my husband. He is my muse. My favorite trip so far is when we went to Greece for our honeymoon. I shot about 20 rolls of film and loved all of them.
With so many cameras and other image-making devices available today, more and more people are getting into photography – it can be a little difficult to make one’s work stand out. What advice would you give someone who seriously wants to pursue and succeed in this craft?
This is something that I’ve been dealing with recently, but it’s nice to see so many people that are able to express themselves creatively. You can’t be mad at that. Just do what you love, and don’t worry about others. Be happy for others and yourself.
