Sweetness and Innocence: Tatiana Minelli and the New Petzval 85 Art Lens

Just by looking at a few of of Tatiana Minelli's pictures you can get a sense of her delicate soul.

Tatiana is a gifted young Italian photographer: she manages to envelop her subjects in an innocent atmosphere which invites the viewer to enter barefoot and gently into her inner world. Who better to test out the New Petzval 85 art lens. Let's see her pictures and get to know her better in this interview.

Hi Tatiana! Would you like to introduce yourself to our community and tell us about your passion for photography?

Hello everyone! My name is Tatiana Minelli, I'm 24 years old and live in Gualdo Tadino, a little town in the region of Umbria in Italy. Photography is the love of my life, I am self taught and hope that it will be my future career. I couldn't live without taking pictures, it's a need, a necessity, the way to fight my inner demons and to co-habit with them, my remedy for everything.

What is the lead up to creating your pictures? Where do you draw inspiration from and how do you choose your subjects?

During my photo shoots, whether it's fashion or art, I'm guided by my instincts. I can be inspired by a face, a place or even by an object. The face is certainly very important, it has to appeal to me to the point where I want to depict it.

What did you shoot with the New Petzval 85 Art Lens?

My passion is people, specifically women. I love portraying them, pulling characteristics out of their personality that maybe they did not even know they had. I want to portray them how I see them.

How did you find shooting with this lens? What camera did you use?

I used my Canon 5D Mark III. I loved using this lens! I have to admit that it's a very particular lens and not very simple, initially I had to work out what was going to bring out the best results but once I found it it was one "wow" after another. I have created really unique shots that I didn't have in my portfolio yet and am very happy about it.

What advice would you give to someone using it for the first time?

My advice would be to think outside the box, it is a lens that is unique and has been designed to be so. Don't settle, create create create! You could take great photographs and have a lot of fun!

Soon we will publish more pictures and the second part of the interview with Tatiana. To see more of her work you can visit her Instagram and her Facebook page.
