This year is New York Adorned Tattoo 20th Anniversary and we got to get a sneak peek in on the fun at the shop!
Will you please introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Jose Chalarca.
What is your background in art and tattoos?
I was very fortunate to have grown up in an artistic environment. My grandfather made guitars and my uncle was a painter, so their work influenced me to get involved with art at a very early age. I served in the military, both Marines and Army, and have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration.
I have been tattooing professionally for about ten years, half of that time just tattooing when my military service allowed me to. It wasn't until 2011 when I left the military that I began tattooing full time and committed myself to my artistic endeavor. I love what I do and hope to be able to tattoo for many years to come.
What was your favorite part of shooting with the instant wide?
I had fun with the selfie remote in the lens cap. I also liked the softer hues and of course the instant gratification of taking a picture and getting to hold it in my hands a minute later.
