Spanish band Hinds formed in 2011 and in just 2 years have gone from playing for friends in a local restaurant to embarking on a huge world tour. We love their sound and enthusiasm for music so we gave them an LC-A+ and asked them to document their travels. We talked to drummer Amber Grimbergen about these shots.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m 20 years old, I like cooking and dancing, I used to work developing and printing rolls of film in a photo shop when i was 17 so I guess that made me love photography. I like the summer and ice cream. I also play drums in my free time.
What inspires you all to write music?
Mainly personal situations or close friends’ situations, either happy or sad experiences. But also listening to bands we like (either old or new ones) help us a lot!!
How did you get on shooting with the LC-A+?
I loved it! it’s such an easy camera to shoot with and also very fun because you can try out loads of funny things. I can’t wait to see the results!
It seems like you were travelling a lot in these pictures, tell us a bit about what you shot?
Basically things on tour that I see every day, like my bandmates and friends or things that got my attention on the road like cool gas stations or something.
If your photos could have a soundtrack, what would it be? (5 songs, title and artist please)
The War on Drugs – Red Eyes
The Growlers – Black Memories
Black Lips – Don’t Mess Up My Baby
Glass Animals – Youth
Kanye West – Waves
Earth, Wind and Fire – September
What’s coming up in the future?
Keep touring until January and then it’s gonna feel weird as we’re going to be DONE with touring for the first time in 2 and a half years!!!
HINDS debut album Leave Me Alone is out now.
