Please tell us something about yourself and what you do.
Hello! My name is Kobachi. I am 45 years old and I live Tokyo, Japan. I take photographs using film, digital, iPhone… but I love shooting on film the most. I often walk around the busy streets of Tokyo and hike mountains sometimes.
How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?
I was browsing through the internet for film photographs and found Lomography.
As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?
Rule 6 (Don’t Think). Hmmmm… I can connect it to my passion for music. At a very young age, I listened to pop then hard rock music. There were also years when I listened to thrash metal bands everyday. One day, I listened to the radio (that was 30 years ago and there’s still no internet) and discovered Slayer and Beastie Boys. It’s shock for me…everything is new. It was great!!! I started a new life listening to these. It’s like finding a gem. Hard core music knows no age, no skin color. It’s open to all. It influenced me not to be bounded by rules!
In this digital age, why still film?
I found a few printed picture in my desk drawer and these inspire me to feel more and imagine more. Digital produces smooth images, which are good, but I like the texture of 35mm film more.
Your favorite analog camera as of the moment? Why?
Best one? It’s difficult. I used many cameras. My favorite camera is the Canon new F-1. I love its design.
What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?
Any song, book, or movie you live by?
The manga Kingdom has a perfect story and drawing. I like the music of H2O, Sick of it All, Madball, Minor Threat, Leeway, Shelter, V.O.D, Crown of Thornz, and many hard core band!
Any Community member you look up to? If so, why him or her?
@b2377 has awesome photos. Everything looks natural. I like the feelings his photos evoke and his overall style.
What are you looking forward to in our Community?
Thank you @kobachi for sharing your thoughts with us! Welcome to the community and we’re looking forward to seeing your future work.
