LomoAmigos: Bear's Den
2 Share TweetAlternative folk act Bear’s Den is set to embark on a UK tour to promote the album “Islands,” which was released in October 2014. But before going on tour, the British trio, composed of Andrew Davie (vocals, guitar), Kevin Jones (vocals, drums) and Joey Haynes (vocals, banjo), captured some of their summer memories on film with the Sprocket Rocket.
Get to know them more in this quick interview.
Please introduce yourselves to the Lomography community.
We’re three lads based in West London who love music, beer and good craic*. [*Craic is a Gaelic word, with no exact English translation. The closest translation means “fun.”]
What inspires you to write music?
Life, art, friends and family!
What advice would you give to other budding musicians who want to make in in the music industry?
Focus on songwriting. If the lyrics and melody are strong enough, people will listen. Also, when you’re starting out, take any gig you can get. Use every opportunity to hone your live show. Also, listen to all kinds of music.
How was your experience hooting with the Sprocket Rocket?
It was fun, although a little disconcerting not being able to instantly see the result on the back of the camera. Interested (if a little apprehensive) to see how they turned out – hope there’s a couple of usable snaps in there!
If your photos could have a soundtrack, what would it be? (5 songs, title and artist please)
“Beggar in the Morning” – Barr Brothers
“S.O.B.” – Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats
“Shuffle” – Bombay Bicycle Club
“‘Cause I’m a Man” – Tame Impala
“The Wolf” – Mumford and Sons
Any future plans for Bear’s Den?
We’re back on the road in October for our UK & Europe tour, and then we go into the studio to work on our next album. Then hopefully more touring/festivals/fun!
