While many would have looked out the window, decided to throw a frozen pizza in the oven and call it a night. The brave Journey Vienna people laughed in the face of near hurricane like conditions to reace through the city. Lomography was check point 5 and had an amazing time with all who passed by!
Wow what a night! May 15th The Lomographic Society International joined volunteers and adventure hungry people on an unforgettable “Journey to the end of the Night”! This year about 500 people started a race through the streets of Vienna past 6 checkpoints as quickly and as stealthily as possible, all the while avoiding being caught by “chasers”. And did we mention the pouring rain?
While many would have looked out the window, decided to throw a frozen pizza in the oven and call it a night. The brave Journey Vienna people laughed in the face of near hurricane like conditions. Then, the first runner to reach the endpoint without being tagged was the winner and all those who were caught became chasers themselves, turning on their former friends and allies.
The Lomography checkpoint was number 5 “The Future is Analogue”. Our task, after abandoning attempts at light painting and seeking shelter under a nearby bridge, was to for each person to have their photo taken with the Lomo LC-A+ and the Lomo LC-A Instant Back+ using the techniques of the negative tipster and then choose on analogue item that they would take with them into the future.
What were some of the analogue treasures that people wanted to ensure they had with them? There were several analogue computers mentioned, books, poetry, a letter from mom, pen and paper, paints as well as VHS movies, to name a few.
After several hours travelling through the city with only their feet and public transportation, everyone was soaked to the bone by the time they reached the Lomography booth. But that did not stop all who passed by from being in high spirits and making the night for the Lomography team truly amazing.
