The district of Sauvabelin in the City of Lausanne is a popular local recreation area but it is not very well known among tourists. With its forest, viewing platform and artificial lake it is the perfect place to hang out if the weather is kind and definitely a place you shouldn’t miss when discovering Lausanne.
Situated above the Lausanne City centre, the district of Sauvabelin contains an artificial lake and a forest. In the middle of the forest, there is a 35 m high tower with a viewing platform offering a fantastic view over Lausanne and the Lake Geneva. The tower is open from 9 AM till 5 PM or 9 PM, depending on the season. Nearby, there is a zoo (cows, pigs, sheep, goats etc.) and a romantic little lake where it is possible to hire a boat in the summer months. And if you get tired from all that shutter-clicking, you can refresh yourself in the restaurant on the lakefront.
I myself discovered that place some years ago through a friend of mine and I love going back ever when the weather is nice, always making sure to have enough cameras in my bag.
For the rest, I will let my photos speak.
