Hello. Please introduce yourself and how you started as a photographer.
My name is Raymond Phang, been a full-time professional wedding and commercial photographer for at least six years. I guess it’s the same for everyone – the very first human instinct – curiosity, got me started. And it only gets more fascinating when something small and rectangular can actually capture and reproduce what the human eye sees.
How would you describe your photographic style in three words?
Candid, fun, unconventional.
How was your experience shooting with the Petzval Lens?
Great, it’s a pretty fun lens to shoot with since nowadays we’re all so used to shooting in auto focus mode. Love the weight and built of this piece of glass, and the effects are beautiful. The special star/tear drop filters are awesome because they create wonderful bokeh that are different from our usual lenses.
Please share your favorite photo from the ones that you shot with Lomography Petzval Lens, and the story behind it.
Image 013 is one of the favorite for the couple’s candid expressions. I was just asking the couple to chat with each other and capturing their expressions when they were laughing. This was the most funny one of the lot, got me interested on what jokes they shared with each other.
Which photography or video project would you dream of making with the Petzval Lens?
Street photography where candids are hard to capture and focusing on the sweet spot is difficult to achieve.
Do you have any advice for new and future users of the Petzval Lens ?
Patience is a virtue, and one with patience is always rewarded.
