Before you paint the town red this weekend, have a look at our The Daily Hex gallery first to ease you into the right mood!
What’s a ‘hex’ anyway?
Hex actually pertains to hex values, which are 6-digit hexidecimal numbers that are primarily used in web design. Your photographs can be viewed by hex values and we have almost 1,500 common colors that you can browse through, most of which have names that are quirky, goofy, and downright weird. But don’t be fooled, these colors are real eye candies, too!
A color most commonly associated with courage and love, the origin of the word red can be traced back to Old English word rēad. In Sanskrit, rudhira, the term they use to refer to this color, means blood.
Red has been traditionally used to signal imminent danger. During the Middle Ages, a red flag atop a castle would mean that its defenders are armed and ready to protect it from invaders. Today, red is internationally use for stop signs, stop lights, and other road and warning signs.
Don’t let these photographs bathing in the strong color of Red intimidate you. They might have a bold hue but they are still pleasing to the eyes, especially if combined with a cooler color.
