American music duo Pomplamoose gives their own brilliant take to The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star” more than three decades after it was first released!
New wave-synthpop song “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles made history when its music video was chosen to be the very first one to air on the then-newly launched channel MTV back in 1981. The following years saw the infectious ’80s hit being covered by numerous artists, and today we have this recently-released one by *Pomplamoose*!
Pomplamoose’s cover was accompanied by a projection-mapped video filmed in a single take. Its intergalactic concept echoes that of The Buggles’ video, too!
We hung white table clothes on the walls of our studio and built sets out of foam core to create a “3D” screen. Only one projector was used to project images onto the various surfaces. – Pomplamoose via PomplamooseMusic on YouTube
Watching this video is both an audio and visual treat. The Buggles would certainly be proud.
Here’s the original video to refresh your memory!
