Have you all watched “Eat, Pray, Love”? I was inspired by Julia Roberts, who rode a bicycle in that movie, so I decided to rent one and try it myself! This happened two years ago but I still remember my biking route. To all of you who haven’t been to Ubud, I think you should visit the place and try to go around in a bicycle!
I ate, I prayed, and I rode a bicycle!
So about two years ago, I stayed in Ubud, Bali for a month or so. One day, too inspired by “Eat, Pray, Love,” I decided to rent a bicycle from a bicycle rental in Hanoman Street.
I haven’t told anybody about this solo biking route yet because I’m forgetful, a reason why one should ask me about a particular experience first before I could tell them about it. When I read that there’s a requested post about solo biking routes, I just had to write this one from my memory.
So from Hanoman Street I went straight up to the main street of Ubud, where I saw many tourists (a typical sight there), then just went downhill to east of Ubud near Blanco Museum, Ayung River, and Tjampuhan Hills.
I rode my bike uphill to Panestanan Village and just rushed along the empty road there. For your information, I went gaga because people looked strangely at me – I was riding my bike so fast in the middle of the day, at 12 noon sharp! So hot! But I really didn’t care and just embraced the wind hitting my face. That’s a feeling you should experience when riding there. You can see green rice fields and the beautiful smiles of Balinese people who greeted you. Oh, such a life!
The road along Panestanan Village was quite long but at the same time empty. Good news! I remember that I rode my bicycle through the road near Monkey Forest road, but I found it quiet and boring because I used to walk there everyday. So I decided to stop and just relax.
After resting my legs, I went back on the same route but this time I took it slow and really enjoyed everything around me. It’s great!
I went back to bicycle rental, all refreshed and relieved. It was a great ride. Come to Ubud and experience it yourself!
Let’s go for a ride!
