If you’ll ever come to Indonesia, be sure to include the Taman Sari Water Castle in Yogyakarta to your itinerary!
There are so many places in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, which has a lot more to boast than just its cuisine (yes, because there are so many restaurants there with diverse menus). One of lesser known sites is the Taman Sari Water Castle. This place is really beautiful!
You can see the Hindu influence on the buildings.
This place is near a castle named Pulo Cemeti. Before 2006, visitors could still climb to the top of this building. But for safety reasons, the ladder to the top has been locked.
This wall was made from bricks and sand glued together using egg albumen. Pulo Cemeti was built in 1765 and used for meditation by Yogyakarta’s king.
Like crazy, I used a dozen rolls of film just to take photographs here. Seriously!
You also can find a swimming pool for princesses. A lot of people shoot video clips and pre-wedding photos in this place.
This is an underground mosque, a holy place for Muslims.
If ever you’ll visit Yogyakarta, you must definitely come to this place. It’s located at the southwest King’s Palace.
