Lomo Amigo Sasha Abramovich Shoots with the Diana F+

Community Amigo breakphreak shoots with the Diana F+ and tells us a little bit about, “exploring the mysterious lightways through the plastic lens”.

Real Name: Sasha Abramovich
Community Name: breakphreak
Country: Israel
City: Tel-Aviv
Site: www.sashaabramovich.com

Please, tell the Lomography Community a little bit about yourself.
I’m a magpie. Collecting stockpile items, rusty and shiny, curved and jagged; I examine them for days, arranging pieces into mosaic. When a new tool comes to my hands, I immediately start to turn it around, pressing buttons like a playful child, waiting for its response with blinking lights.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you get into Lomography?

What kind of Lomographer are you? Hobby photography or are you deep in the Lomography life style and loving every minute of it?
When exploring the mysterious lightways through the plastic lens, who knows how long will it take?

Describe the Diana F+ in five words…
mad turquoise medium format transformer

If your gallery had a soundtrack what 3 songs would definitely be on it? (song title & artist please)

  • Wisp – Negions Fail
  • Steve Reich – City Life
  • Monolake – Alaska

What is your favorite photograph from this gallery and why?

That with the falling stars (30 minutes exposure). Make a wish :)

How would you describe your photographic process? Do you immediately know a good photo when you see one or what do you think about when finding the perfect shot?
It’s a combination of thinking ahead and making it the wrong way. I trust my instincts but still learn a lot from my girlfriend Rena about the light and composition.

The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had…
Giving this interview, perhaps

The one person (living or deceased) who you would most like to photograph and why.
Squarepusher. When taking a pics I would be allowed to sample his voice or bass guitar, maybe.

Tell us a bit about your trip to Egypt and what you found to be the most photogenic aspect about it?
Camels, still afraid to come too close, keeping the lens clean.

If you had your suit case packed up again with your Diana F+ and a bunch of film, where would the next place you go be and would you be and why – would you be in holiday mode, adventure/explore or man on a mission?
China. We still miss it. So big and full of surprises and kind people. Japan as well. Shows the way of life of its own. The world is so small. Both countries are very lomography-friendly, by the way (Xishuangbanna prefecture is less counted :)

What advice can you give other Diana F+ shooters?

Learn how to make the best source. Experiment with the gear you have. Push all the buttons you haven’t touched before – altogether and separately. And yep, we are living in a mixed days, where analogue has lots of friends from the other side – learn your tool chain to squeeze the best results of it. For me it’s still a lot to learn about and I am passionate about that. Wish that your own quest for inspiration will never stop :)

What are some projects you have going on right now you can tell us about? As an active Lomographer, you must have a lot going on!
Oh, Lomoboy! We have a whole bunch of things going on. First, building a brand fresh new Lomographic community in the Holy Land – you can check out the Facebook Group or the Lomography Israel site (http://www.lomography.co.il) Besides, I am an active photographer, shooting with my lovely girlfriend Rena from all the hips and sharing the pics on facebook. Plus music production Total Reboot (http://www.soundcloud.com/total-reboot) and many other projects such as last but definitely not least, we’ve just opened for a new project called Tosso (http://www.soundcloud.com/tosso) – DJs, producers and Labels – find us on SoundCloud
