If You Leave embarks on a new milestone and invites inspired photographers and wanderers to participate.
Laurence Von Thomas’ If You Leave has evolved from a personal blog to a well-loved online gallery of photos taken by hundreds of photographers in different countries around the world. The IYL Showcase is an annual competition that aims to discover and recognize the work of emerging photographers. It has further progressed into a series of books containing curated selections of images, and this year, IYL again seeks to evolve from book to magazine form, and hopefully, through an exhibition of photos that will tour in key cities around the world.
To make this dream possible, If You Leave has launched a campaign on Kickstarter. Lomography joins other photography-driven organizations as part of this year’s roster of jurors for the competition. Submission of entries to the IYL Showcase is free, and the theme remains the same. Ideally, the submissions should be ‘Snapshots of a journey made by wanderers who study the mysterious yet peaceful feeling of desolation and loneliness.’ So no happy travel photos here, just high-impact, tell-tale images that convey the above-mentioned emotions.
If You Leave founder talks Laurence Von Thomas about the project in this video:
“If You Leave has always been about connecting people; so many interesting artists and so many interesting stories.”
