LomoAmigo Charlie Wagers's First Rolls of LomoChrome Purple

A LomoAmigo who usually shoots Medium-Format with a Diana, Charlie Wagers went on two tours through the East Coast of the USA and shot his first rolls of LomoChrome Purple 120. Take a look at his first shots with the new film.

When I think of Lomography photographs, I think of bright, saturated and off-kilter colors combined with vignettes and light leaks. After shooting my first two rolls of *LomoChrome Purple*, I can say that this film, in my opinion, is the epitome of the Lomography culture, and possibly my new favorite film to shoot in medium-format.

October last year, I went out on an East Coast Tour with Annabel and Caravels and then in February & March, I went back out with Caravels and my friends in mewithoutYou and Touché Amoré. Between the two runs, I visited Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Roanoke, Knoxville, Athens, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Charlotte, Columbus, New York, Boston, Danbury, Washington DC, Baltimore, Carrboro, Atlanta and Orlando. After I flew home, I realized I accidentally left my camera and film in Caravels’ van, so I’m excited I finally got this film developed!

Annabel in Gainesville, Florida.
Caravels in Roanoke, Virginia.

As a little soundtrack for this article, I’ve included my favorite track from Annabel’s latest full-length, Youth In Youth.

With my Lomo images, I usually photograph places that I visit, so I can remember that place in that time. Using LomoChrome Purple puts a colorful twist on those settings. My favorite characteristic of these images is the color-shift based on the temperature. When you look at the photos, you can tell which ones were taken in warm-weather based on the brighter turquoise and pink colors, while the winter photos have subdued purple and navy blue tones. To be specific, the first image is taken in the summer from my friend Janelle’s porch in Columbus, Ohio. The boat dock photos were near Baltimore, behind my friend Phil’s house, taken the morning after a snowstorm.

I would recommend this film to any Lomographer, because it will give you an entirely new color palette. It’s also versatile enough to be used by a beginner. To conclude, I plan to take more photos with *LomoChrome Purple* this summer, so I can capture more of those bright pink and teal colors! As always, don’t forget to check out *My Blog* and be on the lookout for my next post.
