This article is a tribute to a great British photographer Martin Parr, who took many colorful and vivid photos of sunbathers on the beaches all over the world. During this wonderful spring, and while waiting for the next summer, relax and enjoy these photos!
Hello my Lomofriends! Are you ready for the next summer? Well, I asked because this article is a tribute to Magnum photographer Martin Parr and his great photos of beaches all over the world. In his photographic projects he criticizes modern society, consumerism, food and mass tourism. His most famous books are The Last Resort, which shows working class people at the seaside in New Brighton in the ‘80s, and The Cost of Living , which contains photos of middle class activities during the Thatcher era. One of his most recent books, Life’s a Beach* (2013), contains a series of photos on beaches that he took for many decades. Now, since this spring is beautiful and many Italian towns are preparing the beaches for the incoming summer, are you ready for a sunbath?
If you’re ready, take off your shoes and socks, roll-up your jeans, and run into the refreshing waters with joy and without fear!
As written in his official website, Martin Parr used amateur films on his 6×7 cm camera together with a ring flash to obtain high color saturation without using photo editing software.
To obtain similar vivid colors, I used mainly my Lomo LC-A with its legendary Minitar lens and loaded it with high contrasted amateur films like Fujicolor 100 or 200 or Kodak Ultramax 400.
Don’t miss the first warm sun of the year, it’s wonderful! It’s a joy to leave your heavy sneakers on the sand and feel the sun on your feet after winter captivity!
The sea is so calm that the lifeguard can also relax a little!
Everyone wants a nice cruise!
As an alternative to a sand beach, you can also relax on a warm wall!
Or, if you want, you can also lie down on the fresh green grass!
Place your slippers on the wall, lie down, and enjoy a beautiful sunny day near my lake!
You’ll surely enjoy a beautiful day by admiring the view while sunbathing, so what are you waiting for? Get into your swimwear and lie down for a nice sunbath!
Sunbath up or down, but remember: together is always better than alone!
Take advantage of the sunny days and stay until the last rays of the sun. Slowly, the shadow will cover you at the end of the afternoon!
