If you’re still on the look-out for the best travel destinations this spring, better head to Kyoto, Japan’s former imperial capital, where the breath-taking sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom await.
Apart from being synonymous to the elegant and beautiful _geisha_, Kyoto has also become a popular destination to enjoy both autumn and spring seasons. It’s one of the best spots to indulge in one of the best spring experiences: hanami, or a cherry blossom viewing party.
As you can see in the delightful lomographs above, Kyoto springs to life with pretty sakura (cherry blossom) trees and dainty foliage adorning the streets and parks. It’s been said that the Japanese love the spring season more than the others, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that they came up with a way to take in the relaxing view. In a hanami party, the locals typically go to famous cherry blossom viewing locations (such as the Maruyama-koen Park, Kyoto Botanical Gardens, and Nijo Castle, to name a few) with picnic baskets filled with food and drinks. Sounds like a party to us!
