Our featured LomoKino flick of the day is not only entertaining but educational, too!

Shadow Play” is a work by *maria_vlachou* of Kastoria, Greece that was filmed entirely in black and white using Ilford XP2 films. With the use of shadow puppets, she depicts a well-known tale of Karagiozis, a fictional character of Greek folklore, called “Alexander the Great and the Accursed Snake.” Now, at this day and age, this style is something we definitely don’t see everyda!

Here in the Lomography magazine we often venture to the community’s Movies section, where we’re able to stumble upon shorts that do not only depict interesting storylines but are also well-executed. The new Kino Stories series aims to put the well-deserved spotlight on these gems, so keep those creative juices flowing and tell us your story! Who knows, you just might get featured in an upcoming installment!

Against The Sun: Shapes in Contre-jour

The brighter the sun, the larger the cast of the shadows. Contre-jour, however, does not rely on the shadow, but the figure itself. This photographic technique is used to create stark silhouettes of the subject with the help of direct natural light. Gladly, the Lomographic community has plenty of elegant images in contre-jour. We gathered our favorites.

Inspiring and Daring Women in Contemporary Photography (Part I)

We love a striking photo as much as the next person, but a unique point of view makes us head straight to a feature. Who should the world know more about? Who has rocked our perception of beauty, sexuality and creativity? These questions populate our notepads, and our list of photographers is quite long. For International Women's Day 2016, we whittle the directory down to our current favorites, photographers who resist labels (even the ones we give them) and dare the world to see what they see.
