Amidst the myriad of themed boutique coffee shops around the world today, there’s one in South Korea that I really, really, really want to visit. And no, it’s not a cat cafe!
If you’ve been following my Caffeinated Haunts series, you already know that I am always looking for nice coffee shops in every city that I get to visit. Cat cafes like the ones I went to in Penang called Purrfect Cat Cafe and Neko no Niwa in Singapore (more on that soon) will always be on my list, but now, I have also added there a quaint and unique cafe in South Korea called Dreaming Camera (꿈꾸는 사진기).
Located in Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province, the beautiful two-storey cafe will immediately catch your attention, as its TLR camera design (yes, the whole building was modeled after a TLR camera) stands out against the farmland surrounding it. The cafe stands next to the family house of an army aviation pilot who loves cameras. Now, the name of the camera-themed cafe makes perfect sense — it must have been his dream to set up a cozy space like this!
The vintage camera theme is not only evident in the building’s design, but in the lovely interiors as well. While sipping some coffee or tea, and munching on some churros, guests are treated to a beautiful view of the landscape outside and an impressive camera collection on the wall. There are even some camera-themed decorations around the cafe for you to admire and ogle at! It’s an analogue heaven, if you ask me!
Oh boy, I could stay there all day.
Look, it’s even more stunning at sundown! I am definitely adding this cafe to my must-visit spots should I ever find myself in South Korea. Until then, setting foot in this lovely and gloriously analogue-themed cafe is a dream for me!
