My first camera find, the Konica C35 AF

I’m just starting my camera collection and I’m always on the lookout for used cameras. One trip to a local market led me to an amazing camera find.

I always make it a habit to keep an eye out for cameras wherever I go. You just never know when you’ll hit the jackpot and take home a great camera. Thrift shops can sometimes offer you great camera selections for a fraction of the original cost.

And alas, I did find one – a used *Konica C35 AF*. I almost didn’t get the camera since I was afraid it was not working so I waited it out for 2 weeks. I thought that maybe if the camera was broken, I could still have it repaired just so I can start my camera collection. It’s a good thing that it was still there when I got back.

As soon as I hit the shop, I put in two AA batteries to test the shutter and flash. Everything seemed to be working fine but I was still anxious about the camera’s performance. But still, I pulled the trigger and haggled with the seller until we reached an agreement. I got the camera for about 10 US dollars. That’s a steal in my book!

I only found out what the camera really was during my later research. I didn’t really know what it was since the badge bearing the camera name was gone. Also, the camera still had its original bag although it’s a bit worn. I also couldn’t find the lens cap that also covers the light meter.

Close-ups are a bit difficult with the Konica AF35

The Konica AF35 really shoots well with its flash and auto-focus. It is a bit big though but I don’t mind at all since it feels more solid in my hands. I have to say that I really love the snap-up design of the flash and the automatic focus of the lens. The distance meter also automatically adjusts your shots but the minimum distance for a clear photo is 1.1 meters.

This definitely made my camera hunting more interesting. I’m thinking about digging deeper in more thrift shops if the cameras are as nice as this. I think I’ll keep my fingers crossed and my eyes peeled for my next camera!
