Location: Santiago, Chile
When did you first try a Lomography camera or film? What product was it?
The first Lomography camera I tried shooting with was the Fisheye One. I used it during my friend’s birthday. It was on July 31, 2011 to be exact.
Was the Lomography product yours or did you borrow it from a relative or friend?
The camera is owned by my friend Jose (rastablues). We first met during an event held Lomography Chile and since then, we became good friends.
How was the experience? Any funny or strange occurrences?
The place where the party was held was a bit dark. José told me not to use the camera because the flash was not good. But I ignored his advice and decided to use it anyway. Well, the pictures came out a little underexposed. The lens of the Fisheye One is blocking the flash and it made the bottom right side of the pictures a bit darker than the rest of the photo.
Have you used that Lomography product again? Why or why not?
I was able to use it again when I went to see my boyfriend who then lived in Huasco which is located far north of Chile, a rough eight hour bus trip from where I live.
It was quite clear day and I was able to take photographs of the Blooming Desert, a phenomenon that rarely occurs here. The photographs came out pretty fine, too!
Can you share with us your favorite or most memorable shot from that First Lomo Affair of yours? Why is it your favorite?
This is a photo from my first Fisheye One roll that I like most. I went quietly to take the picture. I also like how I was able to include the Marilyn picture on the wall.
How did Fisheye One influence you as a Lomographer?
It made me love Lomography more! Shooting with it made me want to experiment with more cameras and continue shooting!
Lomography is filled not only with jaw-dropping Lomographs but also with kindhearted members as well. Francisca’s story is a living proof of that! Thank you Francisca for the wonderful interview!
Lomography’s Fisheye One is the world’s first compact 35mm fisheye camera. With a sweeping 170-degree view and slamming colours and contrasts, the Fisheye One will certainly give you great circular shots every time. See it with the rest of our Fisheye cameras here!
