It’s the kind of tiny fishing village that you would expect far off the beaten track, but yet Cumbuco finds itself located right next to its big brother Fortaleza at Brazil’s gorgeous Northeast coast. Cumbuco basically means all year round sunshine, pristine warm water beaches, sweepy dunes and a strong yet warm breeze that makes this spot a real kiters paradise.
Fortaleza, capital of the state of Ceará in the Northeast of Brazil with its 3 million inhabitants, sometimes can get a little bit too much. That’s where tiny Cumbuco comes in as a perfect city getaway. With its slow pace of life, but at the same time creative and active atmosphere, this little beach village has a whole lot to offer.
Everything in Cumbuco breathes the ocean, with the village only occupying a little part of the long beach. Being one of the best places in the world for kite surfing, every year, a lot of people make a stop here. But, despite the amount of tourists that already have found their way to the village, it has managed to maintain its authentic character. The villa occupies only a small part of the long beach, which means that there are no crowds whatsoever.
Being as small as it is, the village of Cumbuco offers a great night life though. Think of amazing local restaurants and great beach bars right at the beach for the perfect laid-back night out with a real Brazilian caipirinha in your hand.
Before you leave, don’t forget to take a buggyride in Cumbuco sand dunes. You’ll get surprised by these huge fluffy hills and the stunning views and activities these tours will offer you. Ever took a 20m high slide of a sand dune sitting on a wooden orange case? This is your chance!
