Lomography Embassy Store Istanbul

Since it opened it’s doors in March 2012, Lomography Embassy Store Istanbul has been the center for all Lomography enthusiasts. With our growing number of workshops and events, we are reaching out to all photography lovers.

We interviewed Nural, General Manager at Lomography Turkey, so read on if you’re curious about her answers!

Which one is your favourite Lomography camera and why?
Oh that is a tough question! I own about 27-28 cameras, other than 3, they are all from Lomography. I always carry the LC-Wide with me, since I love the wide angle lens, but depending on where I’ll be going and what I’ll be shooting, I usually carry a second camera as well, such as the Horizon Perfect for more landscape photos, or the Fisheye No.2 for fun night time shots. Recently I got a second Diana F+, as I couldn’t resist the cuteness of the Diana F+ Chamonix, so she is my companion nowadays :)

What’s the weirdest Lomographic moment you’ve ever had?
This actually happened before the opening of the shop. I was testing out the Spinner 360, before the launch (yes I was a lucky one!) I was in Sultanahmet and suddenly a middle age guy just grabbed the camera from my hand and while asking “Is this a camera?”, took a photo of himself.

What is the nerdiest question you’ve ever been asked in your shop?
We usually get the “Where do I insert the USB?” and “Do these cameras use film?” but I think the nerdiest was a foreign guy saying “Tell me everything you know about Lomography.” I just didn’t know where to start from!

Where is the best place to shoot some Lomographic masterpieces in your city?
I think we are lucky to be in Istanbul. We are in one of the most popular areas in Beyoğlu, right by the Galata Tower, which is definitely a photographic masterpiece. Other than that, there is the Galata Bridge, Hagia Sophia, the Bosphorus, the sea view from a ferry, and the list goes on…
