Anarchy Goes Old School in Belgrade, Serbia

14

In Sweden these days it’s not possible to get a real shave by a professional barber, apparently there’s no market for it anymore, but in Serbia people still like it the old school way…

I enjoy changing my appearances every once in a while and one of the easier ways is to tamper with my facial hair – it grows fast and it grows thick. This last time I was going for a stylish Stalin-look with a thick moustache, and what better way to do it than getting shaved the old school way with razor-sharp knives?
In Belgrade you can get it done professionally in a salon where time stopped some 30 years ago (and the price hasn’t changed much either, around €2 for a classic shave).

I must confess, I was a tad bit scared sitting down in that creaky old wooden chair, resting my eyes on the shiny blades lying next to me, but as soon as I felt the comforting hand of the barber around my neck I was totally enjoying the whole experience.
10 minutes later I was walking out of the salon with all major arteries intact, sporting the closest shave I’ve ever had in my life and a huge smile on my face…
