In this day and age, people are always looking for the sharpest image available or high resolution artwork. But artist Federico Babina creates art using pixels in all its 8-bit glory! See his pop culture pixel artworks after the cut.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re an artist or just a lover of the classic 80s pixel effects. This artist’s works strike in the middle and can cater to any of the two or even both. Italian artist Federico Babina tinkers with pixels and paints images of iconic figures in popular culture and art. Using a computer mouse as his paint brush, Babina created these cute 8-bit images of popular artists and icons that include the likes of surrealist master Salvador Dali, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, James Dean and many more.
In his series FAMOUSPIXEL, Babina illustrates the pop culture and art icons in the stylized pixel blocks look of early video games. Babina’s simple pixel formula breaks away from the high-tech and multi-layered art form of modern graphic design and illustrations. The pixels lend a back-to-basic sensibility to this series of fun and quirky portraits. It’s a poke of fun in an otherwise serious area of art.
