Yes, there is a song with the word ‘Lomo’ in the title. “My Lomo and Me" (je photographie des gens heureux) is a single from the fourth studio album of French pop artist Olivia Ruiz, “Le calme et la tempête .”
The lyrics were written and sung in French but the language only adds the song’s charm; the romantic-sounding verses are laid against cheerful, catchy, pop-flavored instrumentation. The first stanza, however, is somewhat bittersweet.
“Je loue des chambres d’hôtel aux étages élevés
Je fixe les quelqu’un de ma fenêtre
Avant de les capturer
Je les habille de peut-être
C’est l’attraction de l’esseulée”
“I rent hotel rooms on high floors
I stare at unknown people through my window
Before capturing them
I dress them with lots of ‘maybe’
It’s the entertainment of the lonely”
‘Je photographie des gens heureux’ translates to ‘I photograph happy people’ in English and this sentiment is literally and visually expressed in the music video. Olivia Ruiz herself appears as the lovely but lonely lady with a voyeuristic streak. It’s interesting how the ‘window’of the hotel room also works as a camera lens that she uses to photograph other people. Watch the video and see for yourself.
