Reviews on Rewind: Rollei Nightbird

We all know by now how light hungry redscale film gets, as you lose a stop or two in the process. Luckily, we have this pre-spooled ISO 800 roll from Rollei, which delivers the bloody redscale images we want, with low-light flexibility. Check out the testimonials we have for this film in Reviews on Rewind!

I ♥ RED: rollei nightbird 800 by b0rn2b1ush

I have always loved RED and i have used redscale films before but the Rollei Nightbird 800 + Horizon Perfekt + Manila sunset = PURE BLISS! Try it yourself and prepare to be pleasantly surprised with the amazing results!

Rollei Nightbird (35mm, 800iso): Your Photos Drenched in Wine by gborin

Definitely, it is a film worth to try, maybe if I used a camera which I could play with ISO, shutter speeds and aperture, I could get a better conclusion about it. I should test it indoors too.

Rollei Nightbird Redscale 800: You Shocked Me All Night Long! by reiga

To called this film a redscale is maybe a little bit inappropriate. Since this film has an unexpected wide range of colors, it will definitely give you shock therapy. I am aware there are some films that have similar capability like Nightbird. But, again you will be shocked with the results.

A First Roll of Rollei Nightbird Redscale 800 by djcosta

To be fair, I love the red and orange tones of some of the photos, but I was expecting a bit more from this film. It felt really like a shot in the dark. I had the general impression all photos were too dark and underexposed. I would love to try another roll of it in a completely different situation, with much more ambient light. I didn’t feel brave enough to try to shot it at ISO 640 like advised, especially under such grey and cloudy skies. Maybe for a day at the beach could work cool.

I think with the added benefit of hindsight, I am happy with how these shots came out and I will be buying a roll of this film again when I can because I would enjoy the chance to put it in a better and more appropriate camera.

Lovely pics. I've tried this film, but the chosen camera was a Tuka (brazilian plastic model) and it produced lots of light leak.…
