LomoLove: My LomoHome of the Day Award Speech

The forgotten LHOTD awards speech, found crumpled in the pocket of the jacket I wore that evening

First, I would like to thank my parents, for bringing me in to this world, and for planting and nurturing the creative seed in me. For loving me and taking a big part in making me the man I am today.

Then, big and special thanks to my girl, who introduced me to Lomography. She was the one who brought Lady D, our first Lomographic camera – a Diana F+, in to our home. And thanks for loving me with my obsession and with the growing camera collection and all the films in the fridge, and for supporting me and encouraging me to keep on being obsessive. Most of the time.

My very special girl

And then of course, to all of you Lomographers here, in this positive, loving and supporting community. To each one of you who visited my home and gave me feedback and to all of you who never visited my home but did visit other people’s homes and gave them feedback, and those people went on and visited other people’s homes and gave them feedback and this way this wonderful community keeps the love going. A big part of what keeps me thinking day and night about taking pictures, about cameras and funky films, is the fact that I get to share the results of it all with you people.

Some of my first Lomographs

One of the first things I learned here is that many times the photos I was less happy about (mostly because they didn’t come out just like I planned they would) were liked by Lomographers here, which made me look at them again, differently. And this is one of the great things about sharing your Lomographs – you get a chance to see them through other people’s eyes.

The abundance of beauty to be found here is a pleasure and an inspiration. The experiments I come across make me eager to go out there and test and try and cross and push and double and capture, capture it all. There is so much out there, and I have all of my life ahead of me.

And last but not least, thanks to all the people at LSI, the people behind the scenes, working hard in maintaining and improving this place, this place where we can all meet and share our passion and craziness.

Thank you all, thank you very much!
LOMO ON and good night!!

I love this ! And you're so right about the fact that some lomographers like shots that aren't your favourites, and hence, make you look at them with a different eye...
