It would be safe to assume that we would never think that our life would be in danger because of analogue cameras. In the sad case of Alexandr Komarov, apparently not!
Who would have thought possessing an alaogue camera would be illegal and a jailable offense? Ukranian camera collector Alexandr Komarov was recently arrested for possessing Soviet spy cameras and faces up to 7 years in prison for the “crime”.
Apparently, Komarov was in the possession of 2 F-21 cameras, a Soviet-era half-frame camera designed specifically to shoot in a concealed manner. The Criminal Code of Ukraine for some reason, continues to classify them as illegal items and a means of espionage. What makes these strange turn of events all the more stranger is that the F-21 is pretty much identical to the Zenit MF-1, which we actually have for sale in the online shop.
Talk about a bum rap, eh? Here’s to hoping that he dodges the charge and that the absurd and outdated law gets repealed!
