In Love with Film: Fujicolor C200

7

The Fujicolor C200 is a very modest film given the low cost and excellent performance. This film features natural colors, the grain is not annoying, and is forgiving to the highlights. Learn more below.

The Fujicolor C200 is a color negative film produced by Fujifilm. Universal films are designed especially for outdoor use. With their exceptional quality, they are the ideal companions for all our shots. This film is (perhaps) the successor of Fujicolor 100, but gives you twice the ISO sensitivity. In fact we are at ISO 200, giving a clearer and a higher density of sensitivity to light. The film grain is very low. Because of its low cost, it is good to experiment and use every day in almost all photographic situations.

Features at a glance:

  • Medium sensitivity ISO 200
  • Texture is contained
  • Ability to under or overexpose
  • Suitable for digital scanning
  • Good in most photographic situations
  • Suitable for outdoors
  • It allows a good degree of enlargement
  • Reasonable price
  • Available in 35mm

From: Fujifilm

The first time I took this film was because I had an urgent need of negative film to take on a holiday. Thanks to the low price I could not help but make it my beautiful escort.

I tried it for the first time on the Spinner 360

The results are not bad, the colors are natural and well exposed.

Then is was time to try it with the LomoKino

Even with a machine as fast as the LomoKino, the photos does not let me down. Here you can see some videos made with this film.

On the Pentax MX you can see all its potential and how far the Fuji C200 can get.

Grain is non-existent and the colors are natural.

Even with long exposures, it behaves quite well.

This film is also great for experimenting with both Redscale and Film Soup.

With Redscale, the Fuji C200 behaves well.

Here you can see some pictures exposed between 50 and 200 ISO:

But it still behaves better with Film Soup. With this film I have tried it a lot:

And finally in the washing machine:

As you can see the Fuji C200 is an excellent film. It is a cheap film able to meet all our needs :)

Outstanding article! Have you overexposed this film and how did you dealt with the lab for development!

c200 is cheaper than most colour film here in the UK, but now it's around £10ish. Cheaper if you shop around. Really good film and takes excellent photos when the lighting is correct
