Burning Man Rumble

8

Not for the faint of heart, but perfect with those with a burning passion. Burning Man has become a yearly pilgrimage of sorts for eccentrics, kindred spirits, and curious travelers. Bring goggles!

What was once a small gathering of people has turned into a 48,000 strong community that perplexes those on the outside. What is Burning Man? The event is described as an experiment in community, art, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance. Kinda like Lomography, right?

With that in mind, we want to see your best photos of Burning Man – from the artsy culture behind it, the crazy hi-jinks that happen, to the grand finale of the effigy burning down to its last embers. We have an aptly themed prize for the best photo: a Diana F+ Sahara that will accompany you in the scorching desert heat.

Send those photos in!

How many people are registered on lomography around the world? and your asking for those 48,000 people who attend the burning man to enter this comp? alienating the rest of us who have no chance to attend? What a genius idea!

@aoifeodwyer Yes, I have seen all the comps for Diana Singapore marathon. Excellent if you are in Singapore but yet again, if you are not in Singapore, or you didnt go to the burning man fest, it leaves the rest of us with nothing to enter. Another great competition idea from our friends at Lomo.

    Giles Clement: The Wayfaring Tintyper

Reminiscent of traveling photographers of the 19th century, Giles Clement tours through the country with his assistant, Zeiss (an Irish Terrier), offering everything from portrait sessions to wildly creative photographic projects for magazines and companies. And although his mode of transportation may have evolved with the times, his photographic method and gear have changed very little compared to the photographers of days past. Now, with over 3 years of tintyping experience under his belt and an impressive list of clients, he's carved a name out for himself as an accomplished tintyper and continues to spread his passion for this ages-old technique everywhere he goes.

In the hands of those capable wielding it, art can be a powerful weapon. With it, for one, creation of fantastical realms far removed from the one we live in is entirely possible. Through collage making, Eugenia Loli builds such worlds that invite the audience not only to marvel at them but also, and most importantly, to see through the hodgepodge of images to find meaning and formulate interpretations.
