In a nutshell, “Game of Thrones” is an adaptation made for television by cable movie network HBO. The storyline was taken from the equally widely popular fantasy novel series penned by American author George R.R. Martin, “A Song of Ice and Fire.” The TV series, which finished airing its third and latest season in June, follows an intricate storyline that showcases epic clashes for the Iron Throne, among other things, between several noble Houses in the fictional continents Westeros and Essos. The amount of characters and events are so many that some might find it hard to keep up!

But the game created by Uruguay-based Spanish comic artist and videogame fan Abel Alves seems to be really less complicated unlike the show or the books. For starters, there are only four levels and four characters, their non-8 bit counterparts seen below:

Actors Kit Harrington as Jon Snow of the House Stark of Winterfell, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen of House Targaryen, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister of House Lannister of Casterly Rock, and Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth serving for the House Baratheon. ‘Game of Thrones’ publicity stills via Wired and Winter is Coming

Abel Alves created his game using the Arcade Game Studio software and is reminiscent of old favorites such as Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. To complete the analogue feel, the creator even used 8-bit covers of the “Game of Thrones” and “Rains of Castamere” themes by Floating Point!

And the best part? Anyone can download it for free directly from his website!
