Do you want to add a purplish hue to your photos, but don’t have the Lomochrome Purple at hand ? You must try this easy camera modification that creates an effect that is somewhat similar to shooting with Lomochrome Purple!
Like most Lomographers, I wanted to have some unusual Lomochrome Purple effect to my photos, but I can’t afford to buy the film. So I’ve been thinking to use a filter, but then I can’t find a filter that fits my La Sardina. After thinking and planning, I did a little experiment with my Sardina, I named it “Purplescale Experiment”.
Things you need:
- A strip of purple cross processed x-pro film, make sure that it larger than your camera’s mask
- Some tape
- A camera (I used La Sardina, but you can use any camera, even medium format cameras)
How To Do It
First, open the back of you camera and measure the size of the mask
Then cut the film strip so it cover the mask of your camera, and don’t forget to leave some space in the corner for the film counter
Double check the strip and make sure it covers the whole mask, and then try to wind it to check the film counter
After that, tape the left and right side of the strip. Once again, wind the camera
Lastly, load the film and shoot!
