While he had a successful career as an award-winning actor, Jack Nicholson enjoyed some fruitful writing and directing stints, and was once even seemed resigned to a career behind the camera. His made his first successful screenplay in 1967 with a 1967 cult film entitled The Trip.

The photo above taken by Julian Wasser shows the celebrated American actor in his BBS office in La Brea in 1971, editing a film using a Moviola. The machine allows film editors to view films and study individual shots as they edit, and determine precisely where to best cut the film.

    The Infallible Electric Eye

By far the oddest-looking camera I own, the Electric Eye is an auto-exposure viewfinder camera made by Bell & Howell in the late 1950s. I picked one up online and ended up with another one, that came with a very cool, retro looking carrying case, from my grandfather. It took a little while to try these two out but after running some film I found that this camera is a lot of fun to shoot with.
