Are your kids constantly breaking their crayons while badgering you to get them more? Don’t negotiate with terrorists! You can make these rainbow ones with a little help from film canisters!
Crayons are impossible to organize. Even if you were an OCD kid, you’d get broken colors everywhere for no reason in particular. Or I’d like to believe that happens to everybody, not just me. Anyway, here’s what you need for this little project:
Old and/or broken crayons in at least 4 colors
4 film canisters
4 clean tin cans
A stove, a medium saucepan, and some water
Place all of the crayons in the tin cans – 1 can per color.
Bring an inch or two or water to a boil in the saucepan
Carefully place the tin can in the middle of the pan to melt the crayons
Once melted, put a little bit of the crayon liquid in the film container
Allow it to harden
Repeat steps 1-5 for the other colors
Once the last layer is hardened, it should be ready! Just pop the rainbow crayon out and you’re in business!
