When it’s hot, the only way to find relief is to take refuge in the woods and away from the chaos of the city. I chose a nature reserve not far from my home town.
In Porto d’Ascoli, there is an important nature reserve called Sentina where many species of birds find shelter during their long migrations from south to north. Over the years, this swampy area has been made more comfortable for the animals that are hosted here, as well as for those who would like to visit and get the opportunity to see the migration of these precious birds up close.
In addition to the fauna, this place also houses a large amount of rare and wild flora, which can be admired through a series of trails.
Shortly before entering the dirt road, there is the a place where you can rent a bike so you can be able to move better inside of this vast area.
There are several paths, each of which are indicated in the specific billboard at the entrance: the path to be traveled by bike, the trail to the flora and one for wildlife.
I decided to walk the path of fauna with my Pentax already charged and ready to shoot any kind of photos.
The whole path is protected by fences so as not to scare the animals. I can caught a glimpse of some rare birds, but too far away to shoot, so I remain a silent observer with the hope that the next time they are much closer to me…
I continues my hike down the path of flora, where I safely shot photos without problems. On either side of the path there were several plants with signs bearing the name of the plant.
Throughout the trail and then found myself on the beach, where at last I can really play around!
