Throwback Thursday: Portrait of Twiggy as seen in Yardley print ad

Lesley Lawson, better known as Twiggy, was an English model, actress, and singer who became famous in the 1960’s. She was handpicked because of her waif-like figure and androgynous appearance, her short hair, large eyes, and long eyelashes contributing to her strikingly good looks.

Twiggy had modeling gigs in England, the United States, France and Japan, and landed on the covers of elite fashion magazines. In 1967, she became the celebrity endorser for Yardley, and as the new face of the well-known cosmetics brand, a line of products were named after her.

In the print ad for Yardley’s Twiggy Eyelashes shown above, a portrait of the world’s so-called first supermodel exhibits those peepers and lashes which are simply to-die for.

If Twiggy Eyelashes were still available in the market, would you have gotten yourself a pair?
