A beautiful place to have a drink or diner.
Of this former brothel built under Napoleon III remains a magnificent staircase and marble pillars, stained glass, gilded ceilings and antique yellow walls.
Transformed into a trendy bar and restaurant, it hosts 3 rooms with different atmospheres. One can enjoy a drink in a small room that resembles an old pharmacy with bottles of medicine and a collection of butterflies (unfortunately closed the day I went there). Or, you can enjoy your drink in large design osier chairs, with a toast, or potatoes or soup (in the restaurant room). Or just sit in the new room with mosaics originated from the 19th century…
There is a DJ rendezvous every Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
The decor is wonderful, the terrace is really big and heated in winter. You go there for a pit stop, a small drink ans as you feel really good you finally decide to eat at the restaurant, in a cosy and quiet atmosphere. There you can find a « fusion » menu, but also traditional french dishes.
A quirky place, modern-kitsch, in a neighborhood undergoing radical transformation ; a very nice « before place » before going into the neighboring clubs (the most famous Rex is just in front…)
