Ever wondered about what your fellow lomographers first thought about their Horizon Kompakt and Perfekt cameras, or how these panoramic shooters became their trusty analogue companions? The reviews and the confessions after the jump may feed your curiosity, and even help you make up your mind if you’re torn between Kompakt and Perfekt!
I could still remember opening the big box and sensing the smell of the well-kept brown leather case as a prelude to a wonderful Lomo adventure with my Russian panoramic cam. I knew from the very first roll I took that I made the right choice. And Kompakt has been keeping my company in many phototrips with it hanging on my neck thanks to my ingenious tape-measure-turned-camera-strap.
Shooting with the Perfekt is a joy. The camera feels great and all of the controls are easy to get to. The viewfinder is clear and accurate, and the built-in spirit level that you can see through the viewfinder is extremely convenient. The hand grip works very well, but I find myself forgoing it and just remembering to keep my fingers out of the picture. The camera is surprisingly quiet – not stealthy, not not distracting either. The fast lens means that I can usually use a fast enough shutter speed to hand-hold the camera in most situations.
I try to take the camera in all the travels I do, and believe me, if you take this camera with you, you won’t take bad photos anymore. All the photos you take, are great panoramic images, full of awesomeness.
To be honest, when I wasn’t so familiar with the Horizon Perfekt, I was wary of its heavy weight, and I don’t know what types of photos it can produce; I even told my friend that having a Sprocket Rocket is good enough for me, I don’t think I will need this. Little did I know that I changed my mind completely after a trial run.
The Horizon Perfekt shoots images the length of two standard frames. With full aperture and shutter settings, this premium panoramic camera gives you total control over your shots. Prepare to be blown away by the amazing Horizon Perfekt, available here.
