If you or one of your friends have a wedding coming up, here’s a fun way to proudly show your Lomographic love to all of your guests!

Small, intimate weddings are havens of awesome DIY projects. Flat Broke Bride details this easy to make (but time consuming!) project so that you can make it yourself.

Materials:

  • Roll of film. Just ask your friendly neighborhood lab to give them to you. Otherwise, you’re going to have to waste a few rolls and nobody likes that!
  • Can opener
  • Tape
  • Paper you want to write your message on
  • Pen or a sharpie
  • Scissors

Using the can opener, pop open the canisters. Do it carefully so that you don’t bend it too much, as you need to put it back on later!

Remove the spindle and film inside.

Measure the film strip with the paper you’re going to use to make sure it’s the same size and same length.

If you’re satisfied, cut the paper. Make sure to fold the other end and write pull on it. You wouldn’t want your guests to rewind everything inside!

It’s now time to write your message. Everyone will be reading it from right to left, so take note of that. Make sure to leave some room at the left most end of the paper, since it will be the one that’s taped to the spindle. When you’re done, tape your message and carefully roll it.

Once you’re done, put the spindle back inside the canister, with the “leader” coming in between the slit. After that, put the cover back again and you’re set!
