Debbie Harry was every inch a rock vixen—-beautiful, alluring and talented all in one package. Happy Birthday, Debbie!
Surely you remember her. Debbie Harry is an American singer, songwriter and actress most popularly known as sultry lead vocalist of new wave/punk/disco/rock band Blondie.
Deborah Ann “Debbie” Harry was born on July 1, 1945 in Miami, Florida. She moved to New York and other cities in the United States in the 1960’s and took on a variety of jobs: that of a secretary, a waitress, a go-go dancer, and—-whoa!—-a Playboy Bunny.
Harry joined a bunch of bands in the late 60’s and early 70’s. It was during this period when she met her eventual partner and Blondie guitarist, Chris Stein. She and Stein chose to form a new band, originally called Angel and the Snakes, but was later renamed Blondie in reference to the bleached-blonde hair related catcalls Harry solicited.
And who wouldn’t blow a whistle? Debbie Harry was every inch a rock vixen—-beautiful, alluring and talented all in one package. We’ve compiled a few of her photos, in celebration of her iconic splendor.
