Fun Under the Sun: Take Your Multilens Camera To The Beach!

2013-07-01

Looking for movement for your multi-lens cameras? A trip to the beach is your answer.

Just because it’s winter in Australia, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun in the sun and kick up some sand on the beach!

I recently received my first multilens lomography camera as a birthday gift from my mother in Canada — an Oktomat, whom I christened Zoidberg, after the lobster-like alien doctor from Futurama.

However, I noticed a problem. Most of my shooting is done on my own, as I roam around Sydney, and it’s rare that I have someone who I can tell to do something funny for me to capture with Zoidberg’s 8 rapid-fire lenses. There’s only so many fountains, dogs in the park, and pictures in the mirror of yourself you can take. I needed movement!

The solution was simple: go to the beach!

Bondi is a world-famous beach on the Eastern shore of Sydney, and accessible via train and bus easily from downtown. I’ve been there many times, and often walk the cliffs from Coogee Beach to Bondi, a 6 kilometer trip that boasts incredible ocean views, and several smaller beaches.

The next time I went, I brought Zoidberg along. It was a chilly 15 degrees under a blue sky, with a cold wind. Of course, that did nothing to deter surfers, suntanners and swimmers from braving the weather and enjoying Bondi.

Remember how I said I needed movement? Beaches are full of movement!
