Let Go, You're Too Old!

2010-03-11 10

Ever wonder how cool it will be to be able to see through the innocent eyes of a child? Give them a camera instead of a lollipop.

I loaded my Lomo LC-A+ RL with a roll of film and let my 3 year old boy play with it every time he comes into my study room. I was sure the results will be pretty cute and adheres to most of the Lomographic rules.

I helped him with the MX button to prevent some 200 exposures in a single frame and also had the Colorsplash on. Taught him how to change the colors on the Colorsplash flash and that creates not only more fun for the boy … but also ensures more wild colored photos in the end.

There are a few things to NOT teach the child if he/she is too young. First is the MX button … and next is the rewinding. This will prevent film wastage.

Caleb Savage: Into the Darkroom, Out in the Open

When asked to recall the moment they first became truly interested in photography, most photographers would remember the magical feeling of picking up a hand-me-down or secondhand camera, the thrill of shooting an entire roll through, and the elation upon seeing and holding their first ever set of photographs. Caleb Savage, however, had quite a unique experience. How to Develop Photos on Stone in a Darkroom

I have always loved the idea of seeing my photos on stone and other natural materials. So, a few months ago, I began googling how it could be done. This is how I discovered (and fell in love with) liquid emulsion. Liquid emulsion is photographic emulsion which you can melt down and paint on any surface. You can then expose an image and develop it using traditional darkroom chemicals. In this article, I would like to explain the process a little, so that if you are also interested in giving this fun process a go, you can!
