The Konstruktors: An Interview With Dang

Come and say hello to Dang, Lomography Thailand’s manager. He took some time to take down quick notes on his Konstruktor experience, as well as show us his photos. Let’s check it out!

Full name: Maneedang Kulthaveesup
Lomography Username: deng
Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Tell us something about yourself.
I’m the manager of Lomography Thailand. I love spending time under the sunshine, walking around old places, seeing old buildings and searching for good food.

How did you find your Konstruktor experience?
The Konstruktor is easy to use on street photo shoots. Looking through the viewfinder is different from other cameras, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. Just take some first few photos then you will know how it works, then enjoy the rest of the roll.

What do you like best about the Konstruktor?
The viewfinder is the same as a twin-lens viewfinder.

Any tips for the future Konstruktor user?
I would suggest to take the last rule from our 10 golden rules – “Forget any rules”. Don’t worry about anything, feel free, then prepare to be surprised with the Konstruktor!

Camera Collections: theonlydrp's Vintage and Handmade Gear

Some lomographers prefer to hoard as many analog cameras their shelves and budgets can support. Some would rather keep a manageable number that they can regularly shoot with. Community member Joshua Kennedy belongs to the latter group. From 40 cameras, he downsized his collection to 13, as he puts it, "really good ones" that suit his shooting habits and style. In this interview, he breaks down his small yet dependable arsenal of vintage and handmade cameras and how an organized schedule allows him to shoot with each one on a regular basis.

Khalik Allah: A Halo in the Darkness of Night

He calls himself Khalik Allah – a creator, a limitless, timeless, infinite being. He documents life as it comes and goes, as it hurts, as it glows inside the protagonists of his stories. His photography and videography take us deep into the never-ending nights of Harlem, a place where the darkness might seem to reach its peak. Yet, he is capturing light in its purest form, reminding us that it lies in everyone’s eyes, within everyone’s self.

    Giles Clement: The Wayfaring Tintyper

Reminiscent of traveling photographers of the 19th century, Giles Clement tours through the country with his assistant, Zeiss (an Irish Terrier), offering everything from portrait sessions to wildly creative photographic projects for magazines and companies. And although his mode of transportation may have evolved with the times, his photographic method and gear have changed very little compared to the photographers of days past. Now, with over 3 years of tintyping experience under his belt and an impressive list of clients, he's carved a name out for himself as an accomplished tintyper and continues to spread his passion for this ages-old technique everywhere he goes.
