Why Limited Edition Cameras Are Good Investments

I am way jealous of anyone who owns the limited edition LC-A+ White Japan Edition because I wasn’t able to score the legendary LC-A+ camera dressed in whimsical white leather. While it is no longer available, other exclusive Lomography cameras are up for grabs and here’s why I think they’re worth the extra dough.

Limited edition products are highly-coveted simply because they are made in small exclusive batches with only a numbered few available in the whole world and often commemorate a unique individual, represent a special event, or celebrate a unique partnership.

Here at Lomography, we are always working hard to team up with your favourite artists, brands, and movements to come up with collectible cameras that you’ll adore not only for its one-of-a-kind looks but also cherish because of its rich history.

One such camera I regret I was not able to score for myself (out of the 1,000 units ever produced!) was the Lomo LC-A+ White Japan Edition. Inspired by karesansui, or a traditional Japanese stone garden, the legendary Russian camera with its trademark Minitar 1 lens was given a handsome reupholster in white leather. It’s such a stand-out snapshooter because you rarely find quality white camera, moreover one that is wrapped in luxurious white all-weather leather.

Luckily, the Lomography camera that started it all is available in several different special editions and it’s exciting to keep guessing what design will come up next! While it’s tempting to scavenge for missed limited eds on the internet (I once saw a gorgeous LC-A+ Gold Edition go for $600+ dollars!), I’d rather wait for the new redesigns that come out at the official Online Shop because these packages come with exclusive goodies you won’t get anywhere else, such as VIP passes to launch parties, cool freebies, and the ever-important certificates of authenticity! And that’s the only way you’ll know for sure that you’ve got a treasure in your analogue trove.

Check out collectible Special Edition cameras in the Online Shop or join various Competitions with limited edition cameras as prizes!

For our 20th anniversary we wanted to pay tribute to the camera that started it all with the LC-A+ 20th Anniversary Edition. For the occasion we have designed 1000 pieces of this limited edition camera, each with their own serial number and certificate of authenticity. The black body of the camera melts together with an electric blue stamped leather boasting a crocodile pattern, giving the camera a distinctive avant-garde look. Additionally, the camera features the colourful 20th anniversary metal emblem on the back, representing all the facets of Lomography. These stunning looks are escorted by the legendary Lomo LC-A++ Minitar 1 32/2.8 lens, making photos burst with life, contrasts and vignettes. You will quickly get addicted to the beautiful and unpredictable results of the LC-A+! Be fast if you want to get your hands on this exclusive camera, as it might be gone soon!
